The University of Maine at Farmington offers standard rooming packages which include single rooms, as well as doubles, triples, and quad living environments. As well as specialty housing opportunities.
Specialty Housing Options
QUAD APARTMENT - There is one 4 person apartment
available for student housing located in the Carolyn
Stone Wellness Community. It is furnished with a bath, and is single-sex.
SUITES - Four students share a suite with a bathroom and common room. The suites consist of either four single rooms or two double rooms and are primarily for upper-class students.
INDEPENDENT LIVING COMMUNITIES - Mallett Hall provides
a cooperative living / learning environment for
students in good disciplinary standing with the
University. The residents are primarily upper-class.
WELLNESS COMMUNITY - The Carolyn Stone Wellness
Community (Stone Hall) has been set aside for students who wish
to live free of chemicals including alcohol, illegal
drugs and nicotine. This area promotes a healthy
environment and lifestyle through social and educational
programs.
QUIET FLOORS - Specific floors in two residence
halls have extended quiet hours and an atmosphere
conducive to study at all times. Quiet hours are:
Sunday - Thursday: 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. and Friday
- Saturday: 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. The quiet floors
are located on Dakin 4th floor, Lockwood 3rd floor,
Scott North 3rd floor, and the scholar areas in
Scott North, South, and West.
SCHOLAR AREAS - For students who achieve academically,
there are scholar areas available. To qualify for
living in these areas, students must achieve and
maintain a 3.0 or above grade point average. First
year students who are in the top 10% of their graduating
class may also be considered. Scott North, Scott
South, and Scott West have six furnished suites
and eleven rooms which are considered scholar areas.
Meal plans are required for students who live in
these areas.
PURINGTON PODS -
For 2006-2007, Purington Hall offers housing areas or “pods” based on a particular theme, interest, or major. These pods are:
- 1st Floor South: Residents interested in the Arts
- 2nd Floor North: Outdoor Activity Enthusiasts
- 2nd Floor South: Highways and Byways for Residents interested in weekend day-trips and/or group activities.
- 3rd Floor: Education Majors
